In the early 1960s my mother was enamored with everything Asian. Our home was filled with tchotchkes, artwork, and she even started taking flower arranging and Asian brush painting classes (she was actually quite good at both). These trays sat on a table in our home forever … I cannot remember them not being on display. She never used them as serving implements, only as decor.
